Tally was purchased by Cotesbach as a weanling from Talawater Quarter Horses in Devon. Her sire, Pesky Silver Foam (deceased) was almost full brother to our stallion Sedgehill Gold. Her dam, Hollywood Tika Mico, was the half sister of our mare, Hollywood Gata de Oro. The mares were imported together in 1999 from a ranch in Pennsylvania, breeding lovely old fashioned stock.  We liked the bloodline so much that Tally was booked before she was born. She has been no disappointment. She is a good sized, chunky mare and she is easy to do in every way. She was trained to ride Western but now is a little lame in a front leg so she is sold as a brood mare.  She has had some beautiful foals for Cotesbach, always with lovely temperaments, with three of her colts kept entire.  Her last, a first class red dun colt (see foals) is no exception. He has also been sold as a future stud.

Hollywood Gata deOro

Hollywood Gata deOro (born 1993) is a beautiful big, imported palomino mare. She was one of the first mares to be imported by Cotesbach, brought in from Pennsylvania, along with her two half sisters in 1994. She is 95% Foundation and is a powerful, but very elegant mare, standing at 15.1. She has the kind, easy temperament of a large, friendly dog, which her foals inherit. She was Western trained by Sam Magdaleno and proved to be a lovely, smooth, safe and willing ride and is always one of the first for a fuss.

Kitten’s sire, Hollywood Peppy, was a halter and performance point earner and his Grandsire, on her registration papers, was the great Hollywood Gold, legendary arena ROM producer and grandsire to million dollar sire, Hollywood Dunit. A little further back in her pedigree she has excellent arena and race winners and on back to the great Sugar Bars, Poco Tivio, Three Bars and Hard Twist.

Cat was quite a surprise. Born a very pale buff colour and now, clearly, dunskin (dun tested positive for cream gene). She has wonderful zebra striped legs and dun shadings. She is a beautifully proportioned filly, at 97% Foundation, with a pretty head, lovely kind eye and expression, a sweet, friendly disposition and that stunning colouring. Her dam is the daughter of Sedgehill Gold and Hollywood Gata de Oro and she has inherited their super calm and trusting temperament – sure to be level headed and easy to train and ride in any discipline. Cat’s sire, Hollywoods Blue King has 100% Foundation blood in any registry. Hollywood Bill (38%), King (25%), Hollywood Gold, (17%), Continental King and Queen H, top producer and full sister to AQHA Champions and Superiors, are all on his registration papers. Hollywood Bill – Supreme Cutting, ROM Arena, ROM arena and Champion offspring, sold in 1965 for $18,000; Hollywood Gold, leading sire and sire of Arena ROM producers; the Legend, King – AQHA Hall of Fame and sire of Hall of Fame Poco Bueno and Royal King and multiple ROM winners.

Nero is the son of Hollywoods Blue King and our big, black mare, imported from the same breeder, Continental Lady Leo. He is her third gorgeous black foal. The last, a filly, now three years old, is delighting her owner and Nero is sure to be as pleasing.  Now turned pure black, he is an incredibly friendly and well behaved colt, very inquisitive and confident, and has been from birth, with a lovely chunky build and a beautiful head and eye. He has a historic and rare Foundation pedigree and is sure to make a first class, strapping riding horse for Western or English.

Nero’s pedigree is a fabulous example of true foundation breeding with a high percentage of King blood – 25% in six crosses. Dawn has the looks and the temperament of her parents, (and the big, kind Hollywood Gold eye) being calm, friendly and easy to handle in every way and she will make a lovely, all round mount or a high Foundation mare to breed from with excellent old bloodlines. She has, sadly, suffered a cut to a lower hind which is healing well and will not affect her performance but will leave some kind of a scar, which is reflected in her price.

Pumpkin is the second filly we imported from Bohannon Farms, Kentucky. She is 90% Foundation. Her ‘niece’ is Classic Champagne, Jets Champagne Mist. She is a very pretty mare and with her beautiful, luminous Gold Champagne coat, reverse dapples and shading, her lovely compact, muscular build and terrific agility, she looks the real cow pony. She has a sweet and calm nature. We started her at three and she showed such talent and trainability that our trainer wanted her for polo but she was destined to join the brood mare band to produce beautiful foals like her Flaxen Gold Champagne filly, CB Bows in Gold.
